Production Guild UK partners with AIMICI on accredited Responsible AI training for professionals

PGGB & AIMICI Partnership

AIMICI today announces a partnership with Production Guild UK. Under the partnership, Guild members will have access to AIMICI’s ScreenSkills-accredited Responsible AI training, and the two organisations will work together to support responsible and transparent AI use on productions.

Production Guild UK represents and supports many of the industry’s most experienced production professionals, including producers, line producers, accountants, production managers and assistant directors, as well as those working in the locations, post-production and VFX departments. These are the people who plan and run productions, and who will increasingly make practical decisions about how AI is used: what it is applied to, how it is budgeted, and how its use is recorded and disclosed. The training gives them a recognised way to build that knowledge and to certify against a common industry standard.

In addition to promoting the training to its members, Production Guild will work with AIMICI to bring the industry together around AI transparency and disclosure, including through events and practical guidance, so good practice is shared rather than worked out production by production.

Our members are among the most experienced production professionals in the industry, and they are the ones making real decisions about AI on productions, from budgets to disclosure requirements. This partnership gives them access to an accredited, practical way to lead on that responsibly, and we are glad to help bring the wider industry together to explore agreeing a cohesive standard,” said Kaye Elliott, CEO at Production Guild UK.

“Responsible AI works best when the people running productions are confident and well-informed. Working with the Production Guild and its members moves us closer to one standard and one language for AI across the screen industry,” said Ahsan Mallick, Founder & Executive Director at AIMICI

AIMICI’s Responsible AI training is made with the industry, for the industry, and certifies teams and freelancers against a single competency standard. It has recently been updated to include the new AI disclosure requirements from EU AI Act, which are now in force for all productions looking to distribute in the EU. The training is ScreenSkills accredited, backed by Government and the Alan Turing Business Standards, and supports the UK AI Skills framework. It is offered at two levels:

  • Level 1: Responsible AI for Film & TV Production 101 is the introductory course (around one hour). It builds core AI literacy: what AI is, how it works, the human input behind these tools, and the fundamentals of responsible use, including copyright, key points from the EU AI Act, human oversight and ethical practice.
  • Level 2: Responsible AI in Film & TV Production is the leadership course (around four to five hours). It covers generative AI and its limitations in production, AI use across the production lifecycle, and the wider governance picture, including the regulatory landscape, major studio policies, AI-related insurance requirements, and how to disclose AI use across a production.

Production Guild members receive 15% off both the Starter Learning Pass, which includes Level 1, and the Leader Learning Pass, which includes both Level 1 and Level 2.
