Blog: AIMICI On Set: Supporting “Anemone”, New Daniel Day Lewis film

Theres nothing like the constant titter of short-range radio and someone loudly blaring “ACTION!” every 2 minutes to wake you up get you ready for the day! Or at least that’s what I thought to myself as I joined the set of “Anemone” this week. The upcoming feature film is a new period drama set in the 90’s, which has managed to seduce Daniel Day Lewis out of retirement. They are currently mid-production and shooting outdoor scenes on a rainy day in the middle of Manchester city centre.

Jeremy Campbell is a producer on the project who was gracious enough to let me poke and prod around on set, looking for opportunities to enhance the physical production process using AI tools & techniques. As usual, I couldn’t take many pictures behind the scenes but i did grab a quick snap of me and Jeremy.
I also had the chance to go undercover as an extra for the day, which is why i’m suited up as a 90’s business-woman. Although, as I gleefully explained to the costumer coordinator, I’d happily wear this ensemble in 2024 as part of my weekly rotation. From her reaction I doubt i’ll be leading modern fashion culture any time soon…In my secret role, It was a joy and privilege to sit on a beautiful 30 year old vintage bus only a few feet away from Samantha Morton as she delivered an awesome performance. I can’t tell you how many times we drove around the block on the bus, but I can tell you that the magic of it all never got old.

We finished up the day with a rather damp scene outside in the rain, where I somehow ended up with the world’s most dysfunctional prop umbrella. The weather may have dampened my hair, but not my sprits!Naturally I can’t share too much about the specifics of AI opportunities we discovered on set, but needless to say there’s much to be explored when it comes to using AI to support traditional production techniques.
