AIMICI Launches ScreenSkills-Accredited AI Training for Film & TV Professionals

Introducing AIMICI Learn Hub & Responsible AI Courses

AIMICI today announces the launch of AIMICI Learn Hub – its AI training platform for film and television professionals, featuring the first AI courses accredited by ScreenSkills and aligned with UK national AI skills standards.

Rather than focusing on specific tools, which can quickly become outdated, the training builds durable skills, practical frameworks and best practices for working with AI. It distills today’s guidance from commissioners, broadcasters and unions, and aligns with national AI skills frameworks such as those from The Alan Turing Institute and Skills England.

“We’ve seen first-hand in our work with production teams that there is a big disparity between levels of understanding and usage of AI across a production.” Says Kathryn Webb, Managing Director at AIMICI. “Our goal with this training is to help create a baseline of knowledge and AI competency for everyone working in film & TV production – as well as enabling responsible AI leaders to be nurtured and recognised, helping to create safer AI practices at all levels in the industry.”

The courses have been developed and vetted by more than 50 highly experienced professionals from across the screen industries. The programme has also been created in collaboration with Bournemouth University and UCL, drawing on leading academic research, including the AHRC-funded report Shared-Posthuman Imagination: Human-AI Collaboration in Media Creation.

Making AI training accessible across the industry

AIMICI is working with industry partners, including ScreenSkills and PACT, to ensure the training is widely accessible and affordable. The project has also been supported by Innovate UK’s BridgeAI programme, which promotes AI adoption across high-growth sectors in the UK.

“The screen industry needs a shared language and clear standards around AI,” said Ahsan Mallick, Founder and Executive Director of AIMICI. “This platform is a first step towards scaling responsible AI adoption, built for, and shaped by, professional storytellers, while protecting one of the UK’s most important creative exports.”

Laura Mansfield, CEO of ScreenSkills comments; “We’re pleased to have worked with AIMICI, Bridge AI and industry participants, to develop and accredit an AI Competency training standard for the industry. Our recently published Powering Production report identified some real employer uncertainty around how AI will impact specific roles in the UK screen industry. Accessible AI training offers the screen skills workforce the opportunity to fully understand AI capabilities and explore the role AI technology may have in their workplace.”

The courses are available now on the AIMICI Platform.
